Eye on New Releases: June 14th

Today marks a big day for a few familiar faces. Hip hop supergroup Random Axe, punk's Against Me!, and new age veterans Steve Roach & Erik Wøllo bring new music this week for your listening pleasure.

Label: Duck Down Records
Album: Random Axe
Artist: Random Axe
Genre: Rap, Hip Hop

The ultimate hip-hop trio comprised of Sean Price, Black Milk and Guilty Simpson brings you their debut album produced entirely by member Black Milk (currently on tour with Lupe Fiasco). To get a feel for Random Axe's sound, imagine this year's previous mash-up of Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa and Wale that was Retrosuperfuture II only with heavier lyrics. The self-titled album is an array of feel-good beats paired with Sean Price's infamous social commentary-like rhymes about the dark side of urban life. The album also features many guest artists including Roc Marciano, Danny Brow
n and Fat Ray. Don't miss one of 2011's greatest random "axe" of hip-hop collaboration.

Label: Sabot Productioins
Album: Russian Spies / Occult Enemies - Single
Artist: Against Me!
Genre: Rock, Punk

Against Me! is back in all its messy, garage-punk glory carrying an esoteric, almost apocalyptic message this time with their single Russian Spies/Occult Enemies. The two-track album is the first official release featuring the band's new drummer, Jay Weinberg, after having several drummers play musical chairs behind the kit over the years. It's also their first release back on Sabot Productions, after a stint on Sire/Warner Bros. Staying true to their vintage-loving fans, the band has made t
he album available in 7" vinyl in record stores as well as tour merch stands. Of course, the record is also available digitally! The single follows Against Me!'s May 23rd release of Total Clarity, "a collection of rarities and demo recordings on Fat Wreck Chords recorded during the 'Searching for a Former Clarity' era." You can catch Against Me! on tour this summer with the Dropkick Murphys or at multiple dates and locations of the Vans Warped Tour. So as the song goes, "watch out for occult enemies" and check out Against Me!'s new single and tour dates... "better believe they're comin' for you!"
